According to a report by Kazakhstan's Silk Road News Agency: The first phase of the Astana Light Rail system began trial operations on September 29th.
According to the City Transportation Systems (CTS), this is a significant milestone that will enable testing of the infrastructure's technical readiness, traffic safety, and passenger comfort.

According to reports, the capital's light rail will achieve unmanned operation. During the testing phase, experts will inspect the tracks, stations, communication networks, vehicles, as well as safety and traffic control systems. The tests will particularly focus on staff training, emergency response, and the integration of the light rail with other modes of transportation.

The light rail train is equipped with the GoA4 hardware and software complex—a fully automated control system. Operations such as train movement, maintaining distance between trains, stopping, opening and closing doors, depot entry and exit, as well as cleaning, all proceed without operator involvement.
After testing is completed, the light rail system will commence operations in 2026, providing the capital with a new generation of fully automated, driverless transportation.
